A SENCo Asks...

How can I identify children with speech and language needs?

When using our Language Link packages, the assessment is used a a screening tool for a whole cohort. This means that every child with language difficulties will get the targeted help that they need. Standardised assessments give you confidence that pupils requiring further support are identified, and all children are supported to maximise their potential.

If you have a child in your class who has a speech sound difficulty, then you can use our Speech Link assessment to identify their areas of need.

How can I ensure children receive the right interventions?

Our packages use a child's assessment results to recommend them for specific, targeted interventions which can be run by your school's support staff.

Printable plans and resources are provided for all recommended interventions.

Progress measures can be used to evidence levels of improvement.

Brand new Supplementary Teaching for children who don't make progress as you had hoped.

Provision maps for relevant, at-a-glance data to chart progress and act as EHCP evidence.

How can I improve the expertise of my school staff?

We understand that staff training and confidence is the basis of success, and we also know how important it is to nurture school staff's Continuing Professional Development Plans.

Our primary school packages each include several webinars, explaining how to use the packages and encourage best practice. You can also book our training sessions, delivered by speech and language therapists, for individuals to attend or as inset days.

Our Secondary Language Link package has always contained an amazing SLCN toolkit, the aim of which is to aid mainstream teachers in identifying young people at risk of SLCN and promote inclusive teaching practices across the curriculum.
