Teacher Workshop

Designed by our team of Speech and Language Therapists and Specialist Teachers, our training workshops equip you with the knowledge and skills to effectively support children with speech, language or communication needs in your school. 

Regular sessions are run at our base in Canterbury, Kent, and for large group bookings we are often able to bring training sessions to you.

Primary school package updates

Who is it for?

These refresher sessions are suitable for all current users of Speech Link and/or Language Link, including Teachers, SENCOs and TAs/HLTAs. The session covers everything you need to know about using our package, helping you to maximise results and make full use of all the services.

Sounds Fun: Supporting children with delayed speech

Who is it for?

This session is ideal for TAs and HLTAs with a particular interest in working with children with speech difficulties, but may also be of interest to SENCos, KS1 and KS2 teachers and learning support specialists. This interactive, full day workshop is suitable for both users and non-users, focusing on how to support children with speech difficulties in mainstream primary schools. 

Outline of the session:

  • The differences between speech sounds and written representations

  • How speech sounds are made

  • Speech sound development

  • Working through a 7-step speech sound programme in a fun way

  • Making the most of interactive listening games

  • Introduction to the Speech Link package

How to run effective Language Groups

Who is it for?

This interactive, half-day workshop is ideal for TAs and HLTAs with a particular interest in working with children with communication difficulties. The session is suitable for both users and non-users, and focuses on how to support the development of children's language skills in mainstream settings, with particular reference to using Language Groups. 

Outline of the session:

  • Strategies to help your children understand the language of the classroom

  • Grouping children effectively

  • Choosing and adapting group activities to engage and challenge your children 

  • Evaluating progress and continuing work with children who still require support

Who is it for?

This BRAND NEW workshop is suitable for current users of our packages, and is designed for SENCos and Senior Leaders.

Outline of the session:

  • Interpreting your data 

  • Using your data in planning, teaching and intervention

  • Producing data for inspections and funding applications
