It’s good to talk
Talking to your child is the most important thing you can do to support them and get them ready for nursery, school and life. Learning language should be easy, fun and interactive and it should come naturally. It’s also very complex and sadly many, many children find it hard.
The way we talk to our children has a big impact so we have put together our Top Tips for talking to your child. These are simple strategies you can use at home. They don’t need any special equipment or specialist skills. They are all recommended by Speech and Language Therapists. Sometimes it is the small changes that make the biggest difference.
To help you get started we have made some videos to explain each tip in more detail.
Our first video explains why speech and language skills are so important, how they develop and why so many children struggle.
In the coming weeks we will be adding a new video for each Top Tip.
