Speech & Language Link take part in the Lakeland Virtual Festive Ultra

Our dedicated therapists - Juliet Leonard and Yin Collighan - stepped up for an incredible feat - the Lakeland Festive Virtual Ultra, conquering over 100 miles between two of them in the 12 days before Christmas! Every penny goes to their “books for schools” campaign, helping to provide much-needed resources to 100 primary schools.

As speech and language specialists, we know the crucial link between literacy and language development. By supporting this event, we’re not just promoting fitness; we're championing a cause close to our hearts.

Our team of therapists sped around the virtual track, finishing the 105 miles before the 12 days were over, and even running 135 miles by the end of the event. Their determination and motivation is very impressive and we are very proud of the work that they have put in. The event has raised over £15,000, meaning that many schools across the UK will be receiving book vouchers worth £150 to support their school’s literacy.
