Speech & Language Link is pleased to announce that their package, Junior Language Link is be awarded highly commended in the SEN category in the Teach Primary Awards 2023.

The judges said;

This is a really valuable resource, providing a whole school approach to identifying and supporting pupils with SLCN. The resource offers clear online assessments to identify areas of need, which helps schools to identify and support individual needs early.
The assessments clearly draw out areas where specialist intervention may be required, and, crucially, provides suggestions and resources that can be used in school, helping to ensure that support can begin immediately whether a referral for external SALT support is required or not.
There are also a range of useful reporting tools, to allow progress and impact to be measured and reviewed, in line with the graduated approach.

Junior Language Link is an award-winning online assessment and intervention package, created by speech and language therapists (SaLTs). They help schools to easily identify and support children aged 7-11 years with language and communication needs, so that every child can meet their full potential.

The quick, easy, cost-effective language assessment is standardised and can be administered by school staff to identify difficulties in the understanding of language. To ensure that no child’s needs are missed, universal screening of years 3 or 4 is recommended. Instant results identify children requiring discussion with specialist speech and language therapy services, and recommend which of its small-group interventions are suitable for those with mild to moderate needs. The package provides SaLT-led training, structured intervention programmes and resources, progress measures to track improvement and materials for families to support children at home. Junior Language Link is designed to work alongside school’s SaLT services to reduce waiting lists, referrals and caseloads.
